Cycling trails on Fehmarn

Sundbrückentour

Trip to the Fehmarn Sound Bridge

This 42-kilometer tour takes you through the south of the island with its small harbour towns of Lemkenhafen, Burgstaaken and Orth. You cycle over the dyke, under the Fehmarn Sound Bridge and also through the old town of Burg.

Grüner-Brink-Tour

Cycling tour to the north of Fehmarn

The idyllic north of the island with the nature reserve "Grüner Brink" and the inland lakes is the highlight of this cycling tour. Here you can also make a detour to the beach, spread out your picnic blanket on the dyke or sit on one of the benches and watch the ships in the Fehmarnbelt. You will also get to know some small, idyllic island villages on this route and cycle through the wide fields and meadows.

Wasservogelreservat-Tour

Bird reserve and Fehmarn's western coast

Cycle 36 kilometers through the west of the island, along the entire wild west coast with the Flügger lighthouse and the NABU Wallnau water bird reserve. It's worth taking a break here including a visit! The route takes you further to the idyllic harbour in Orth, then along the dyke to Lemkenhafen and finally back through the interior of the island.

Hafentour

Trip to the two largest harbours

Visiting the two largest harbours on the island combined with a cycling tour along the beautiful cliffs in the east of the island - that's what awaits you on this tour. The fishing harbour in Burgstaaken and the large ferry port in Puttgarden could hardly be more different. Here fishing and sailing boats, restaurants and museums and there the huge ferries on the way to Denmark. In between you cycle along above the cliffs and can enjoy the great view over the Baltic Sea. This is what vacation feels like!

Kirchentour

Tour to 4 churches and 1 chapel

This tour gives you the opportunity to visit the island's four historic churches and the Peter and Paul Chapel in one tour. The starting point is the St. Petri Church in Landkirchen. The tour then leads you further into the historic old town of Burg. A visit to the Fehmarn Museum right next to the church is also worthwhile. The tour then continues via Bannesdorf and Puttgarden to the north coast and finally via Petersdorf back to the starting point.

Inselumrundung

Around the island

Almost the entire tour of nearly 65 kilometers takes you along the coast, you only have to shorten a few sections a bit inland. A picnic on the way, a detour to the Flügger lighthouse or to the NABU water bird reserve - you have all the options on this day trip. Discover the island with all its facets on this tour!

Hiking trails on Fehmarn

Familienwanderung zum Leuchtturm Staberhuk

A family hike to the Staberhuk Lighthouse

From the car park at the naval station near Staberdorf, follow the footpath in the direction of the south-east tip of the island. There is a lot to discover here: secluded places under gnarled trees or the exciting cliffs with their different formations. Arrived at the lighthouse, you can make a detour along the narrow path down to the wild tip of the island.

Auf den Spuren Kirchners

A walk through Burg on Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's footsteps

This walk takes you through the island's capital Burg, on the footsteps of the well-known expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. We recommend starting at the E.L. Kirchner documentation in Burg. There you will learn a lot of interesting things about Kirchner, his work and his time on Fehmarn. Afterwards, explore the places where he worked in Burg and rediscover one or the other of his motifs.
