Take a long walk along the beach, discover the dykes along the Baltic Sea or hike the island on a day tour through the wide fields and meadows. Thanks to its varied landscape and its many sights Fehmarn is a paradise for all nature lovers. Discover the level island on a walk or hike along one of the signposted routes which often run right along the coast or on the dykes. Take a self-experiencing trip on the Pilgrimage Route Via Scandinavica, a section of the legendary St. James Way, or combine your own hiking trail with one of the signposted cycle routes. You can obtain the map material and all the important information for your hiking plans from the tourist information offices in Burgtiefe and Burg.
By the way: Nordic walking courses and guided hikes are organised on a regular basis from various places on the island.
Of course you can also explore Fehmarn on horseback. There are many possibilities of doing so. For those who have not brought their own horses, introductory lessons, horse-riding courses and joint rides are offered by many stables, pony or holiday farms.
If you are an experienced rider, you can start your ride in any part of the island. If you are a beginner, you will find stud farms, pony and holiday farms almost everywhere, which offer introductory tuition, workshops and also group rides. Guests who bring their own horses will also find suitable accommodation for their companions.
Every year at the end of June, the Fehmarn Horse Festival takes place, where the elite of show jumpers gather. Derby winners, national champions and even Olympic participants compete in several tournaments on three consecutive days. Towards the end of the festival, the dressage competition is traditionally on the programme.
Golf with a view of the sea? On Fehmarn that's no problem at all. On the 18-hole course (par 72) you can putt, chipp and pitch to your heart's content all year round in a fantastic setting and with a view of the Baltic Sea or the Inland lake of Burg - and all of this sans dress code. Ideal for beginners: The short-hole course is perfect for first rounders on the green and a perfect introduction into the world of golf.
The public driving range at the Golfpark of Fehmarn is available free of charge to anyone interested in golf. Clubs and tokens for the ball machine are available from the reception desk. There is also a well-equipped shop, the clubhouse restaurant and a sun terrace.
